Maple Grove Library

 

The current Maple Grove Library is located in the town of Maple Grove, Minnesota.  The Maple Grove Library was built back in 1987 and expanded in 1996, making the overall size of the library approximately 15,000 square feet.  With the population growth throughout the community, library use has jumped to 79% over the last decade at the Maple Grove Library.  The Maple Grove Library is known to be one of the busiest libraries in Hennepin County.  Residents borrow around a million books, CDs, and DVDs every year from the Maple Grove Library.

A newer and bigger library will be built for the community of Maple Grove.  Building a new library in downtown Maple Grove will be able to better serve the fast growing community.  The new library will triple the current size of the current Maple Grove Library, and its opening is planned for early 2010.  The current Maple Grove Library will stay open through 2009, and close a few months before the new library opens its doors.

 

The construction for the new $27.9 million Maple Grove Library will begin in early 2008, and will be a 40,000 square foot library built to replace the current smaller one.  The new library will offer more conveniences to the community of Maple Grove, with a larger library; a parking lot with over 350 spaces; a larger collection of books, CDs, and DVDs; more computers; new children’s area; comfortable reading spaces for adults and seniors; drive-up book drop; reading porch; and new express checkouts for adults and children.
